QCCC Brookfield NARTA AccreditationQCCC Brookfield has joined QCCC Mapleton & Tamborine as National Accommodation, Recreation, and Tourism Accredited (NARTA) venues. NARTA has been designed to provide a comprehensive procedure for checking and providing recognition of compliance with relevant legal operational requirements. It is an ongoing process that requires organisations to regularly review their compliance regime in line with changing community attitudes and legislative changes and undergo site audits.
 

Campsite Cafe QueenslandTeachers place a high value on their school’s outdoor education and camping programs.  Many tell us it’s the best time they get to spend with their students - an opportunity to build both peer-level and teacher-student relationships.  They also say camp establishes an environment for out-of-the-ordinary experiences, which tend to be remembered more than experiences in ordinary settings. Little wonder then that teachers invest so much time and energy to take their classes away on camps where they can have both a quality Outdoor Education experience and observe their class in setting outside of the everyday routine.

Brisbane School CamspiteQueensland Health has been recently been conducting exhaustive health and safety audits of Queensland school campsites prompted by a viral gastroenteritis outbreak at a Grade 4 camp at a competitor site, impacting 40 children.  Queensland Health are keen to establish school campsites are doing their utmost to prevent a recurrence of this episode. It has been gratifying for QCCC staff to be informed we're “best-practice” by Queensland Health officials, with QCCC’s commitment to excellence favourably compared to some of Queensland’s top resorts. In the last week it was the turn of our Brisbane Campsite, QCCC Brookfield, to be audited.  As expected, Brookfield received an excellent report.  This was of little surprise to the Brookfield staff given their participation in Brisbane City Council’s Eat Safe program which rates the health and safety of catering facilities by a star-rating system.

Queensland Conference and Camping Centres has finalised expansions at two of its facilities. QCCC Mapleton and QCCC Tamborine have both increased their capacity by a further 50 beds, and each site can now accommodate 300 guests at a time. The expansion at QCCC Mapleton is particularly welcome as it is currently fully booked during school terms and turns away numerous groups seeking to access its innovative outdoor education programs.
