A position exists for an experienced Outdoor Education manager with Queensland Conference and Camping Centres (QCCC) to oversee and guide an era of transformation and innovation with one of Queensland’s largest providers of Outdoor and Experiential education on the Sunshine Coast.  QCCC has two Sunshine Coast venues (Mapleton and Noosa) as well as Sunshine Coast based Expeditions programs, catering to more than 30,000 guests annually.  The Triballink Aboriginal Activity Centre is also located at QCCC Mapleton.

The successful applicant will oversee QCCC’s Outdoor Education ministry through a bold era of change, innovation, and growth.  QCCC’s Program Department can have up to 25-staff in the field in any given week.  The Supervisor will be responsible to manage QCCC’s Outdoor Education programs on the Sunshine Coast and will need significant experience in staff management, OH&S and risk management and innovation in approach, activities, and technology.

A generous remuneration package will be negotiated with the applicant, including the potential for onsite accommodation at QCCC Mapleton.

Maintenance Leading Hand (Carpentry) – QCCC Mapleton:

QCCC Mapleton is looking for a Maintenance Leading Hand (Carpentry) to work as part of a team responsible for building projects and infrastructure maintenance.  QCCC Mapleton is one of Queensland’s busiest Outdoor Education Centres, with 300 beds accommodating more than 30,000 guests on an annual basis.  The venue caters to school groups through the week and a broad variety of weekend groups, operating most weekends.  The position will be responsible to work as part of a team to lead others in building projects, maintaining buildings and facilities in a safe presentable condition. The successful applicant will use a variety of problem solving skills and a comprehensive working knowledge of the residential and commercial construction industry to assist with operational logistics. They will also be a person who can share building and life experience with those they work with. This role will play an important part in training and supporting other team members to work efficiently and to guarantee safety standards are maintained. This position has an integral on call component for site breakdowns and attending to guest’s needs during their stay. It also has a weekend on call component that is rostered.

To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship building experience and a comprehensive understanding of construction and building maintenance. The role includes a generous (above Award) remuneration package as well as onsite accommodation at QCCC Mapleton, a spectacular 55-acre property in the mountains and rainforest of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

QCCC is excited to announced we are offering casual positions within both our Sunshine Coast Mapleton Campus and Expeditions department based out of Noosa.  We are seeking motivated and passionate team members who have a love for the great outdoors and excellent service delivery to join our dynamic, fun, committed and skilled team.

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic person to be involved in a Christian workplace providing outdoor education and recreation programs to school and community groups. The casual positions involve supervising and facilitating participants, from grade 3 to grade 12. Activities such as team building, canoeing, archery, raft building, climbing, abseiling, high ropes and bushwalking are just a few of our activities offered at the Mapleton campus. To add to this diverse role, instructors with QCCC also have opportunities to lead survival and bushwalking, sea-kayaking, climbing/abseiling or Mountain biking journey-based experiences for school groups operated out of Noosa.

Applicants need to be honest and self-motivated team players, willing to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays.  Experience in facilitation, teaching, outdoor education or recreation is essential.

Applicants must have the following qualifications or equivalent experience:

  • Minimum qualifications, or equivalent experience, of Certificate III or IV in Outdoor Recreation (covering high ropes, expedition leader, flat-water canoeing and vertical rescue)
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Current Drivers licence
  • Ability to obtain Commission for Children & Young People – Suitability ‘Blue Card’
  • Climbing & abseiling, Bronze medallion/lifeguard, Remote/Wilderness 1st aid (all highly desirable)
  • Bushwalking/Sea Kayaking/Mt Biking Instructor (desirable)
