CAMPFIRE Internship Wins Award

On Friday 27th October 2023, Outdoor Recreation providers from around the state of Queensland gathered at Rydges South Bank for the 2023 Outdoors Queensland Awards Dinner. The awards dinner was a prestigious occasion, and the QCCC team was looking sharply dressed for a great evening of celebration.  In 2023, there were 9 separate Outdoor Queensland Award categories that reflect the broad range of services and achievements from across the outdoor recreation sector. QCCC Mapleton was nominated as a finalist in the AQIA Workforce Development Award category for the QCCC Campfire Internship Program. This award was sponsored by the Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance (AQIA), and celebrates organisations that support workforce development and training. Other worthy finalists for this award in 2023 included Scouts Queensland – Adventurous Activities Training Team, Sport and Recreation Venues – DTIS.

In the end, the QCCC CAMPFIRE Internship program was announced as the winner of the 2023 AQIA Workforce Development Award. Chris Erb (QCCC Campfire Internship Coordinator)  accepted the award on behalf of the QCCC team from Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance representative, Jo Chiu (Industry Development Manager).

Congratulations to the team at QCCC Mapleton, and to all the team across QCCC, such great recognition for all the hard work put into the CAMPFIRE Internship program over the years.

Thank you to AQIA for sponsoring the AQIA Workforce Development Award category, and thank you to Outdoors Queensland for putting on a wonderful occasion to celebrate and recognize the achievements of our broader industry.
